She has 4 children. She currently is not working after her last tour in Iraq before retiring. A.W. has an IV drug abuse (dilaudid/heroin) that secretly started in the last 5 years after her 3 rd deployment in the military. A.W. was admitted to the hospital after being found by her ex-husband in her mother’s living room unconscious. EMS was called to the home and revived her after realizing that she had overdosed with 6mg of Narcan. Her vital signs when being admitted to the ICU are T101.2F, HR132, RR12, Pulse Ox 98% on 2L of O2 via nasal cannula. She has a 1ppd smoking history x 20 years. Her ex-husband reports that she rarely drinks alcohol. On assessment it is observed by the nurse that A.W. has a golf ball sized abscess to her left ankle that is malodorous with moderate amounts of serosanguinous drainage, bruising and track marks to her bilateral antecubitals, and cellulitis to her right wrist. A.W. is alert with voice stimulation and oriented to self and situation.
