Eric is a 21-year-old is a University student. He has left his family a year ago and loves his newfound freedom. Task 1B Group 4: Eric has been admitted to the inpatient psychiatric/mental health unit for alcohol detoxification and chemical dependency. He is accompanied by his new girlfriend. He smells strongly of alcohol. Eric admits to drinking socially since he was in eighth grade. During an interview with his girlfriend, she reports that Eric passes out at least twice a weekend and once during the week. Eric’s misses class once to twice a week because of his hangovers. His girlfriend says that Eric does not remember things that he does while he is drinking, and that this behavior has been going on since before they were dating. He is drunk before 3:00 PM on most weekends. As part of the admission process, Eric submits a urine sample for a routine drug screening. His urine test is positive for MDMA (ecstasy). The admitting physician orders continuous observation, disulfiram 500 mg every morning and methadone 10mg replacement.
