In 2018, personal data that had been provided to Facebook by millions of its users was harvested by the political consultant Cambridge Analytica without the required consent, and used for political advertising purposes. This invasion of privacy of its customers resulted in severe reputational and financial damage to Facebook and its investors. This topic requires you to list and describe the ethical behaviours that were conducted which directly resulted in the breach of privacy, and which of the Engineer’s Australia code of ethics were in contradiction to this behaviour. What were the pressures and motivations that resulted in this course of action by the company?
