- Label R output as tables. Place table labels (eg Table 1) and captions with a brief description ABOVE each table. If you are pasting output directly from RStudio, ensure you use a suitable font for this output, such as Courier New, in your report.
- Label (eg Figure 1) each plot. Place Figure labels and captions with a brief description BELOW each figure. Explain all plots in the text (see below).
- Refer to all included figures (eg refer to Figure 1) and tables (eg refer to Table 1) in the body of your report. Describe what they show and what information is available from the plots and tables. Adding numbers/captions can be automated, check online for guidance on this process using your preferred software.
- Interpret your results and include an informative conclusion in plain English. Use complete sentences when writing up your results. Spell check and proof-read your work.
- Correct notation is required – use an equation editor to insert symbols.
- Where algebraic symbols are required, attach an explanation or key for their meaning.
- Algebraic expressions for probabilities or equations are set out formally and exactly. Items are linked by ‘=’ only if they are equal.
- Do not include the R commands you used to generate plots and output in the body of your report. You may include this as an appendix at the end of your report.
