Background information:
During the early workshops, I participated in an activity to prepare for the OSCE assessment held later in the year where I performed a practice OSCE with another student, During this practice activity I had the opportunity to assess patient information and compile a medication management plan. Develop and apply a clinical decision-making process to identify the most appropriate strategies for patient-centred care.

The OSCA consists of TWO (2) stations in which you will have 15 minutes at station 1, and 10 minutes at station 2.
Station 1: Research and gather information
You will be provided with written information about a patient’s case,. Use this time to identify potential medication issues and prepare for your interview.
Station 2: Interview
In this interview, you will be given the chance to demonstrate your ability to interpret, process, rationalise and communicate information provided in the case and we should cover these dot points:
- go through your evaluation of the case and the pertinent patient information.
- Were there any actual or potential problems identified and what were they and the mechanism of these issues? What implications or considerations might this have for the patient?
- What pharmacological recommendations could be made for this patient and why?
- What non-pharmacological recommendations could be adopted for this patient? Are there any other non-pharmacological recommendations that may be appropriate for this patient?
- summarise the case, prioritising the most important aspects of the case, and the plan that you would recommend.
This assessment is a reflection on your ability to undertake this activity in the workshop; how it has influenced your approach to Pharmacotherapeutics (if any), areas of personal development that you may identify, and an action plan to accomplish these.
